Brindishe School: eLearning
In Brindishe School we see home learning as a way of encouraging children to see learning as something that happens both in and out of school. We want them to be and to become ‘life-long learners’. We know that home learning helps by:
- developing the partnership between home and school in children’s learning
- reinforcing skills and consolidating new learning
- encouraging children to take responsibility for their learning
We now use two 'virtual learning environments' (VLEs) for eLearning: Fronter and London Grid for Learning (LGfL). Children without internet access at home may use our computers and access any evening after school except Wednesdays from 3.30 - 4.30pm. Please ask in the school office if you and your child would like to book a slot. It is free of charge.
Fronter is a closed on-line learning environment which we use to broaden and link childrens' access to learning at school and at home. Fronter also has email links, discussion forums, noticeboards and many other features. Only people with a username and password can access Fronter.
The London Grid for Learning (LGfL) site has a mixture of open and closed pages, and once logged on children access e-mail and their own web pages, at home and at school. Unlike Fronter, there is plenty for the visitor without a username and password to see when visiting the LGfL site.
