Who we are: Our children

Brindishe SchoolHalf of our children are from black and other ethnic minority backgrounds, and 15-20% of our children are entitled to free school meals. In terms of academic ability about a quarter of our children will need additional support to help them achieve the standard of which they are capable. About a quarter of our children will be in the highest range of ability.

Brindishe can cater for all of these needs and differences because it offers extra support, a differentiated curriculum and very flexible teaching and resources.

The behaviour of the children throughout the school is extremely good and we are successful in developing in children a strong sense of self-discipline. It is a strength of the school that we can concentrate our efforts on teaching and learning. Punishments, or sanctions, rarely need to be used - we believe good teaching, boosting children’s self esteem, giving children responsibility and respect and a calm praising atmosphere enables us to make sure that disruptive or challenging behaviour is rarely seen within this school.

There are many opportunities for children, parents and teachers to get to know each other and to work together. Parental support for Brindishe is very good and there’s no doubt this benefits children in their life at Brindishe.
